The State Russian Museum in the halls of the branch in Malaga, Spain is holding an exhibition
"Ivan Aivazovsky and marine painters of Russia".
The exhibition presents more than 39 works of art, of which 26 are works by Aivazovsky, immersing viewers on a journey through various images of the water element, seas and oceans, calm or stormy, in genres such as landscape, religious inspiration or battle scenes. Aivazovsky, possessing a brilliant natural talent, enjoyed the recognition and admiration of Russian official institutions and, of course, the public.
The most significant and complete collections of Aivazovsky are those that are kept today in the State Russian Museum, numbering fifty-four exhibits, and in the Museum-reserves of Peterhof and Tsarskoye Selo, located on the outskirts of St. Petersburg. The exhibition, presented in Malaga, consists of paintings originating from these collections, while not forgetting that many of them were in the private collections of monarchs or grand dukes.
One of the sections of the exhibition is devoted to the fate of the navy in Russian art to this day.
