The exhibition collection covers the period from the 18th to the second half of the 20th century and includes works from icons to socialist realism, created by key Russian artists and collected from different parts of the country. The exposition presents all genres of painting: portrait (ceremonial, provincial), landscape (from north to south of Russia), historical paintings and genre scenes.
Works are provided from 17 museums in Russia. Among them are Vladimir-Suzdal, Rostov-Yaroslavl, Kostroma and Rybinsk historical-architectural and art museums-reserves, Sergiev-Posad historical and art museum-reserve, Museum-panorama "Battle of Borodino", Ivanovo Art Museum, Smolensk Museum-Reserve, Omsky Museum of Fine Arts and others. A variety of names and works give visitors the opportunity to follow the phased development of domestic art.
